In 2012 I found myself on a short trip to Narraganset, RI with little plans other than to scratch an itch I’d had to ride a bike; a task I hadn’t managed in more than a handful of years. Late on a Friday evening I rode away from a rental shop with a road bike, a helmet, and an idea to hop a Ferry to an island that was smack in the middle of Long Island sound somewhere between Connecticut and Long Island called Block Island.
I woke up early the next day, filled a bag with film, two cameras: a Bronica SQ-a and a Fuji GF645, and a bottle of water. I had no clue what to expect other than sore legs and the overwhelming presence of salt water. The following images are what I managed to capture while exploring what quickly became one of my favorite places on the planet.
